Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Services

The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program at The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh provides comprehensive and holistic services for children with autism and related disorders between the ages of 18 months to 21 years old. We offer a range of programs, including both individual and Group Therapy to best meet the needs of each child.

We provide individual and group ABA services in a clinical setting. Parent training is a key part of our program and can occur in person in the clinic or via telehealth. The ABA program collaborates directly with in-house speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, behavioral health, and nutrition/feeding programs where appropriate.

Our ABA Services at The Children’s Institute are focused on improving the lives of children by empowering both the child and family through strategic interventions aimed at increasing communication and social skills and decreasing problematic behaviors that interfere with learning, social interactions, and overall quality of life.

What is ABA?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of behavior and learning that focuses on decreasing problematic behaviors while increasing the skills needed to engage more fully in the environment, including communication, social skills, and attention. ABA is clinically proven as an effective treatment for individuals with autism and related disorders.

Our ABA therapist team works closely with parents and caregivers, the family’s medical provider, therapists, and the school district to provide a collaborative approach and optimal continuity of care. Coupled with insights from parents, our experts develop individualized goals that focus on areas such as improved language and communication, social/play skills, and independent living skills, all within the least restrictive environment possible.
