In late 2016, after losing his wife to cancer, dedicated supporter Ray Wojszynski found himself at the annual holiday show at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children. It was there that a spark was ignited — a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of children with multiple disabilities.
“I was deeply touched by the many children there,” Ray recalls. “I felt very much that I wanted to do something to make their lives a little better, or in some way enrich their educational experience.”
This newfound passion led him to reach out to several non-profits, including The Children’s Institute. Over the years, Ray has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of music and similar activities in the lives of these extraordinary children. Inspired by the positive changes Ray’s observed, he decided to include The Children’s Institute in his legacy plans.
“Seeing such an impact over time has reinforced my desire to help these children,” he explains. “I included The Children’s Institute in my will so that the positive effects will continue to be felt after I am gone, and I know now that more children will benefit from my support.”
Ray’s legacy gift represents a commitment to ensuring that future generations of children will continue to receive the care and support they need to thrive. When asked what advice he would give to others considering legacy giving, Ray emphasizes the profound impact such gifts can have: “I would suggest to others considering a legacy gift to realize the impact your gift can have, and how it can help your wishes and goals to continue to serve the needs of children like those at The Children’s Institute, so that your presence in their lives may continue to be felt, well into the future.”
